SchipRadar Buddy is a free hobby application with no commercial purpose, made by an individual. It lets boats without AIS share their live position on the water with people of their choosing, as a companion to the SchipRadar app. This privacy policy explains what data is processed when using the app and how it is handled.
The app only collects your precise location while you have an active sharing session running. This location is used to show your live position to whoever you share a link or code with, and optionally on the public SchipRadar map if you choose to make a session public. Location is not linked to any personal identity — the app has no accounts or login.
Location data is automatically deleted as soon as you stop a session, or after 15 minutes of inactivity. No route history is kept.
Starting a session may require an access code — access is by personal invitation. Redeeming a code only stores a randomly generated, non-personal device identifier together with the code — no names, usernames or Telegram IDs are stored. Requests for access sent via the companion Telegram bot are only visible to the developer within Telegram itself and are not stored in the app's database.
The app stores some data locally on your device only: your logbook of past sessions, saved waypoints, a random device identifier, and (if applicable) your access code. This data does not leave your device and is not accessible to the developer.
The app is distributed via Google Play and the Apple App Store. These platforms may independently collect data (such as installation statistics) beyond the developer's control. Please refer to Google's and Apple's privacy policies for more information.

The app is not suitable for navigation, maritime operations or safety purposes. The developer is not liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from the use of the app, except in cases of intent or gross negligence. Interruption or termination of the service may occur without prior notice.

SchipRadar Buddy is een gratis hobbyapplicatie zonder commercieel oogmerk, gemaakt door een particulier. De app laat boten zonder AIS hun live positie op het water delen met wie zij kiezen, als aanvulling op de SchipRadar-app. Deze privacyverklaring legt uit welke gegevens worden verwerkt bij gebruik van de app en op welke manier daarmee wordt omgegaan.
De app verzamelt alleen je precieze locatie zolang je een actieve deel-sessie hebt lopen. Deze locatie wordt gebruikt om je live positie te tonen aan wie je een link of code mee deelt, en optioneel op de publieke SchipRadar-kaart als je een sessie openbaar maakt. Locatie wordt niet gekoppeld aan een persoonlijke identiteit — de app heeft geen accounts of login.
Locatiedata wordt automatisch verwijderd zodra je een sessie stopt, of na 15 minuten inactiviteit. Er wordt geen routegeschiedenis bewaard.
Het starten van een sessie kan een toegangscode vereisen — toegang is op persoonlijke uitnodiging. Bij het activeren van een code wordt alleen een willekeurig gegenereerde, niet-persoonlijke apparaat-ID samen met de code opgeslagen — er worden geen namen, gebruikersnamen of Telegram-ID's bewaard. Aanvragen voor toegang via de bijbehorende Telegram-bot zijn alleen zichtbaar voor de maker binnen Telegram zelf en worden niet opgeslagen in de database van de app.
De app slaat bepaalde gegevens uitsluitend lokaal op je apparaat op: je logboek van eerdere sessies, opgeslagen waypoints, een willekeurige apparaat-ID en (indien van toepassing) je toegangscode. Deze gegevens verlaten je apparaat niet en zijn niet toegankelijk voor de maker.
De app wordt gedistribueerd via Google Play en de Apple App Store. Deze platformen kunnen zelfstandig gegevens verzamelen (zoals installatiestatistieken) buiten de controle van de maker. Raadpleeg het privacybeleid van Google en Apple voor meer informatie.

De app is niet geschikt voor navigatie, maritieme operaties of veiligheidsdoeleinden. De maker is niet aansprakelijk voor enige directe of indirecte schade voortvloeiend uit het gebruik van de app, behoudens gevallen van opzet of grove schuld. Onderbreking of beëindiging van de service kan zonder voorafgaande kennisgeving plaatsvinden.
Op het gebruik van deze app en deze privacyverklaring is Nederlands recht van toepassing.
